Cardiopulmonary and respiratory therapy are monitored programs designed to help patients diagnosed with heart and/or lung disorders. During this program you work closely with a knowledgeable medical professional who designs a personalized treatment plan that addresses your unique medical condition. These programs typically involve exercises, but can also include educational courses, diagnostic tests, and stress relief techniques to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Our cardiopulmonary and respiratory therapy services include:

  • 12-lead EKGs: Electrocardiograms (EKGs) record electrical activity in the heart to evaluate the muscle’s strength
  • Holter monitoring and scanning: a 24 or 48-hour test to diagnose cardiac arrhythmias
  • 30-day event monitoring: a cardiac monitor worn for 30 days to diagnose cardiac arrhythmias
  • Cardiac stress testing: a cardiac test using a treadmill to diagnose cardiac abnormalities
  • Nuclear stress testing: a treadmill test used with nuclear scanning to diagnose cardiac abnormalities
  • Cardiac rehabilitation: a 12-week program of education and exercise for people who have heart-related issues
  • Nebulizer therapy: A medication inhaled through the mouth and nose to treat asthma
  • Chest physiotherapy: This treatment removes mucus from the lungs and breathing passageways but lightly, but firmly tapping key areas of the body
  • Oxygen delivery: A direct dosage of oxygen for patients who are having difficulty breathing
  • CPAP delivery: CPAP devices help patients diagnosed with sleep apnea to breathe easier and sleep through the night
  • Complete pulmonary function testing: diffusion and breathing tests used to diagnose lung diseases such as asthma, emphysema or bronchitis
  • Asthma education: a comprehensive program to educate about triggers, disease severity, components of the airway, managing symptoms, maintenance and acute medications
  • COPD education: An educational course teaching patients diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease various ways they can improve lung function and quality of life

The Cody Regional Health Home Oxygen Department

For patients who have difficulty absorbing oxygen and are unable to travel, our licensed respiratory staff can deliver oxygen directly to them in their own home. We also provide portable oxygen tanks so that patients can bring their oxygen therapy with them outside the home when necessary.

Other services provided by the Cody Regional Health Home Oxygen Department include:

  • CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) for patients with sleep apnea
  • BiPAP for patients who are in need of expanded CPAP
  • Overnight oximetryand continuous oximetry monitoring
  • Aerosol nebulizer therapy
  • Tracheostomy supplies and equipment

CPAP Clinics

The respiratory therapists of the Cody Regional Health Home Oxygen Department offer a CPAP clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week. The clinic hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with no appointment needed. The therapists will assist with mask fitting, equipment operation and education about the CPAP unit.
