Howard Thompson
A Wyoming native with deep roots in the Cody community, Howard was born in Lander in 1950 and, aside from six years spent away at college, has called Wyoming home throughout his life. His connection to Cody Regional Health is also personal — all three of his sons were born here.
After returning to Cody from Salt Lake City, Howard joined his family’s NAPA Auto Parts business, continuing a tradition his parents began in 1959. He later became the owner of the business and remained at its helm until selling it and retiring in 2023.
Throughout his years in Cody, Howard has made community service an important part of his life. He has served on numerous boards and was a member of Cody Rotary for 46 years, holding leadership positions at both the local and regional levels. Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” has remained a guiding principle throughout his life.
Howard also has a passion for music. He was an original member of the band CODY, which wrote original music and performed across the country for 15 years — an experience he considers one of the highlights of his life in Cody.
Howard’s service to Cody Regional Health began when he was asked to complete the term of a retiring board member. He has now served as a trustee for more than 12 years.
For Howard, serving on the Board of Trustees is both an honor and an opportunity to give back to the community that has been home to his family for generations. He is proud to support the dedicated healthcare professionals who serve Cody and the surrounding communities of Northwest Wyoming and to contribute to Cody Regional Health’s continued growth and commitment to providing extraordinary healthcare close to home.
