Cody Regional Health and Billings Clinic Open New Catheterization Lab

Cody, Wyo.(October. 1, 2018) – Cody Regional Health and Billings Clinic partnered last year to expand cardiology services. With the planning behind them, the new Cody Cardiology Center is open for business and includes a new Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab).

The Cody Cardiology Center Cath Lab is located at Cody Regional Health’s West Park Hospital Campus and the physician clinic office is located in their Cathcart Health Center Campus, both in Cody. The cath lab includes the newest x-ray technology systems allowing physician to merge different imaging modalities to guide procedures including new high-end, real-time 3D imaging.

The cath lab provides the ability to perform diagnostic cardiac catheterizations to diagnose and treat heart disease. Diagnostic procedures performed will include cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker placements and defibrillator placements.

“It has truly been a collaborative effort to get to this point of bringing the cath lab to life,” states Doug McMillan, CEO of Cody Regional Health. New cardiologists have joined the team and are already seeing medical practice patients at the Cathcart Health Center and at the outreach clinic in Worland.

Dr. Lewis Shuler, Cardiologist, began practice at the Cathcart location beginning in mid-August. He is maintaining existing patients previously served by Dr. Rashkow and is welcoming new patients to the practice. Dr. Shuler will continue our cardiac presence in Worland through the outreach clinic held the third Wednesday each month. Dr. Ralph Millsaps will join the practice in early October.

Billings Clinic will provide interventional cardiologists monthly to complement services. The Billings Clinic Department of Cardiology is the most comprehensive heart and vascular program in the region with an expansive team of general cardiologists, electrophysiologists, interventional cardiologists, as well as cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons. The Interventional cardiologist will perform cardiac cath procedures beginning in November.

By collaborating through this joint venture, Cody Regional Health and Billings Clinic are bringing new physicians and cardiac related expertise to serve all of Northwest Wyoming.
