Billing FAQs
Why is Cody Regional Health priced differently than other organizations?
CRH is a Critical Access Hospital, a rural designation that Medicare reimburses differently because of our unique operating costs. Each year, we compare our pricing to other Critical Access Hospitals in Wyoming to keep it reasonable and competitive.
Why do I have a balance when I have insurance?
CRH is contracted with your insurance company and bills you only for the amount your plan identifies as your responsibility, such as a deductible, copayment, or coinsurance. Our agreement with your insurer requires us to collect this amount. See how to read your bill.
Why do I have two charges for one hospital visit?
You may receive a facility charge for hospital resources and a professional charge for your provider's services. These cover different parts of your care and are not duplicates. Learn more.
Why was I charged in addition to my wellness exam?
Preventive exams are often covered at no cost. If you also discuss or receive treatment for a specific concern during the same visit, such as headaches, blood pressure, joint pain, medication management, or a new condition, your insurance may process it as a separate service. Your deductible, copayment, or coinsurance may apply to that portion.
Why isn't Medicare paying for my medications during my hospital stay?
Medicare Part B generally does not cover self-administered drugs. These are medications you could reasonably take on your own, such as pills or tablets, even if they are given during an outpatient hospital visit. Medications that require medical administration may be covered. If Medicare determines a medication is not covered, CRH may bill you for it, following Medicare's notice and liability requirements.
