Cody Regional Health Emergency Department Earns Pediatric Emergency Readiness Recognition

Cody Regional Health Emergency Department Earns Pediatric Emergency Readiness Recognition

Cody Regional Health (CRH) is proud to announce that our Emergency Department has officially been designated as a Recognized Pediatric Receiving Facility by the Wyoming Office of EMS and the Wyoming EMS for Children (EMSC) Program. We are honored to be the 12th facility in Wyoming out of 29 eligible facilities to achieve this important recognition.

This designation is part of the Wyoming Pediatric Emergency Recognition Program, which is linked to the National Pediatric Readiness Project (NPRP)—a collaborative effort among the Emergency Medical Services for Children Program, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Emergency Physicians, and the Emergency Nurses Association. The program's mission is to improve the quality of emergency care provided to children in general Emergency Departments, where approximately 80% of pediatric patients are treated nationwide.

The recognition reflects Cody Regional Health’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, lifesaving care to children in our community.

“We’re incredibly proud of our emergency department team for the dedication and work that went into achieving this recognition,” said Danielle Mong, Emergency Department Director at Cody Regional Health. “Being ready to care for our youngest patients—often in the most stressful moments of their lives—is not only a responsibility, it’s a calling. This recognition validates the time, training, and compassion our team pours into pediatric emergency preparedness.”

Facilities earning this recognition must meet stringent standards, including specialized pediatric training for emergency staff, maintaining pediatric-specific equipment, and participating in data tracking and performance improvement processes that contribute to better patient outcomes.

“Cody Regional Health has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to pediatric emergency care,” said Brad McKee, NRP, FP-C, and EMSC Specialist who conducted the survey. “From investing in staff education to ensuring the right tools are in place, this team has shown they are prepared and passionate about treating pediatric patients when it matters most. Your community should be proud.”

Cody Regional Health’s Emergency Department stands ready to provide expert care to every member of the community—no matter their age—through a team of highly trained professionals who go above and beyond every day.
