Daniel L. Dries, MD

About Daniel

With more than 20 years of experience in cardiology and academic medicine, Daniel L. Dries, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.C., brings extensive experience in general cardiology, cardiovascular disease prevention, and the care of patients with complex heart conditions to Cody Regional Health.

Dr. Dries is board-certified in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology and has extensive experience caring for patients with all types of heart failure. His clinical interests include general and preventive cardiology, as well as helping patients manage cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, and diabetes.

At the heart of Dr. Dries’ approach to medicine is the physician-patient relationship. He believes patients should feel heard, respected, and comfortable asking questions. He takes time to explain medical information clearly and encourages patients and their loved ones to be active participants in healthcare decisions.

“I want every patient to know that when they are with me, they are my number one priority,” Dr. Dries said. “I want them to feel heard, to have their questions answered and to know that we are making decisions about their care together.”

Dr. Dries attended the University of Notre Dame before earning his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado in Denver, followed by additional medical training in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Boston. He went on to spend more than two decades in academic medicine at major medical centers.

Having grown up in the small community of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Dr. Dries was drawn to Cody by its strong sense of community, appreciation for the outdoors, and neighbor-to-neighbor connections. He looks forward to building lasting relationships with patients and becoming an active part of the community.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Dries enjoys hiking, fishing, amateur astronomy and astrophotography, playing acoustic guitar, and cheering on Notre Dame football. He and his wife, Erin, a nurse practitioner and medical information technology specialist, have two adult children.
