Cody Regional Health’s Centralized Sterilizing and Reprocessing Department Remodel: Enhancing Surgical Care and Streamlining Operations

Cody Regional Health’s Centralized Sterilizing and Reprocessing Department Remodel: Enhancing Surgical Care and Streamlining Operations

Weannounced the upcoming remodel of our Centralized Sterilizing and Reprocessing department starting May 2023.

This remodel is aimed at optimizing our surgical services and enhancing patient safety. As part of this initiative, our Environmental Services department will be relocated to the third floor, allowing for a more efficient and effective operational workflow.

“The Centralized Sterilizing and Reprocessing department plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and quality of our surgical procedures by meticulously sterilizing and maintaining surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies. The planned remodel signifies our commitment to providing exceptional surgical care and improving the overall patient experience,” states Chief Clinical Officer, Keith Ungrund.

Key Benefits of the Centralized Sterilizing and Reprocessing Department Remodel:

  1. Enhanced Efficiency: The remodel will be strategically designed to improve workflow processes, enabling a more streamlined and efficient sterilization, and reprocessing of surgical instruments. This will ultimately contribute to reducing turnaround times and improving surgical team productivity, leading to smoother surgical procedures and optimized patient care.
  2. State-of-the-Art Infrastructure: The remodel will introduce cutting-edge technologies, equipment, and advanced sterilization systems that adhere to the highest industry standards. This investment in modern infrastructure will further strengthen our ability to maintain the strictest infection control protocols, ensuring patient safety and reducing the risk of surgical site infections.
  3. Expanded Capacity: The redesigned Centralized Sterilizing and Reprocessing department will be equipped to accommodate the growing needs of our surgery department, enabling us to handle increased surgical volumes and support our neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, gynecological and obstetric surgery, podiatry, urological surgery, ENT and endoscopy teams. This expansion in capacity demonstrates our commitment to meeting the evolving healthcare demands of the Northwest Wyoming communities we serve.
  4. Seamless Relocation of Environmental Services: Relocating our Environmental Services department to a dedicated space within the hospital will optimize the layout and create a more focused environment for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout our facilities. This separation will enhance infection control measures and allow for specialized attention to environmental safety across all hospital areas.

“Cody Regional Health is dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients and continually improving our services. The Centralized Sterilizing and Reprocessing department remodel, along with the relocation of the Environmental Services department, represents a significant investment in our commitment to delivering the highest quality surgical care while maintaining the utmost standards of patient safety and operational excellence,” Stated Laurene Torczon, Surgical Services Director at Cody Regional Health.

“We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of our patients, staff, and community during this exciting period of enhancement. We remain committed to open communication, and we are available to address any questions or concerns,” states Brad Tyer, Director of Plant Operations at Cody Regional Health.
