CRH Transfer Center Created for Providers and Hospitals
Cody Regional Health (CRH) Emergency Medical Services recently launched their new Transfer Center, a place designated for all physicians and Big Horn Basin Wyoming hospitals.
All providers and hospitals in the Big Horn Basin can now call one phone number to set up a transfer coming into Cody Regional Health. In the near future, the CRH Transfer Center will eventually include transfers leaving Cody Regional Health as well.
“When we say “transfer” it means a patient from another hospital needing to seek a higher level of care. This happens if a requesting facility is unable to provide or doesn’t have the services the patient requires,” said Phillip Franklin, Cody Regional Health EMS Director.
“We want the transferring physicians and organizations to be comfortable knowing that they only have to call one number to CRH to initiate transfer process to allow them to focus on the patient prior to transfer,” stated Doug McMillan, Cody Regional Health CEO.
The Cody Regional Health Transfer Center has a “one call” phone number everyone can call to reach a transfer center coordinator. The Transfer Center is staffed 7-days a week from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
If a transfer is requested after 8:00 PM, physicians and hospitals will call the same phone number, but the line will ring over to Cody Regional Health’s Acute Care Unit clerks, who have been trained in all transfer center procedures.
“This has been a learning process for everyone, but we are excited to be able to offer this new service through our EMS department,” said Franklin.
