West Park Hospital Receives Jeff Martin Gold Award 8 Consecutive Years

Cody, Wyo.(July 1, 2017) –West Park Hospital has been awarded the Jeff Martin Gold Award for Excellence for eight consecutive years.

The Yellowstone Insurance Exchange, RRG - Risk Management Recognition Award is designed to recognize and reward exemplary hospitals for their efforts to enhance patient safety and overall safety for families, staff and the communities served by Yellowstone member hospitals.

Best practices developed by the winning hospitals are made available to all Yellowstone member hospitals to the direct benefit of patients, families, and staff across the Yellowstone footprint.

Since the program’s inception in 2009, West Park has won the top-level Jeff Martin Award for Excellence every year for eight consecutive years. This extended success underscores the hospital’s deep commitment to enhanced patient safety throughout the organization. West Park has won the award for a range of initiatives in the past including the prevention of falls, the mitigation of medication errors and the establishment of a “time out” protocol to make certain the right patient is receiving the right surgery at the right site every time.

“We are proud to receive this award recognizing WPH and our staff for our continuous commitment to Patient Safety and Care” Our staff has done a great job implementing our post-operative cardiopulmonary treatment program insuring every patient is seen by our cardiopulmonary staff within 30 minutes of being admitted following surgery,” states West Park Hospital CEO, Doug McMillan.

This year the hospital won the award for putting in place a clear protocol to enhance post-operative cardiopulmonary treatment. The protocol addressed specific challenges the West Park medical team identified to improve results for patients. The protocol was effectively implemented and has been a success in improving outcomes.
